# Slack

Flared posts link alerts, a weekly summary, and automation runs in the public channels of one Slack workspace. Slack is part of Plus and Founding Lifetime. The workspace owner sets it up in the dashboard under Integrations, Slack. Members see the Slack page, but only the owner changes it.

## Connect Slack

Select Connect Slack and approve the Flared app in Slack. Flared asks Slack for three permissions:

- Post messages as the Flared app.
- Post in public channels without an invite.
- See the list of public channels, so you can choose one.

Flared does not post in private channels. Each Flared workspace connects one Slack workspace. To use a different Slack workspace, disconnect the first one.

## Link alerts

A link alert rule posts in one public channel. Add a rule on the Slack page, choose the channel, and choose its events:

**Link created**

A link was created in the dashboard, the CLI, the API, MCP, or an import.

**Link changed**

The destination, the title, or an app link of a link changed.

**Link turned off**

The short URL stopped redirecting.

**Link turned on**

The short URL redirects again.

**Click milestones**

A link reached a number of counted clicks. Each rule chooses its interval: a multiple of 100, from 100 to 1,000,000.

Flared posts an alert right after the change, and a click milestone within about 10 minutes. Each rule has its own switch, so you can turn a rule off and keep it. Send test posts a test message in the rule’s channel. The events are the same as the [webhook events](https://flared.page/docs/webhooks).

## Weekly summary

A weekly summary posts in one public channel once a week. Add a summary on the Slack page, choose the channel, and choose the day, the hour, and the time zone of the post. The default is Monday at 09:00 in the time zone of your browser.

The summary shows the total clicks of the last 7 full UTC days before the post, the change from the 7 days before them, and the 5 links with the most clicks. The days are UTC days, as in the analytics, and the message says so. Each summary has its own switch, and Send test posts a test message in its channel.

## Automation posts

To post when an automation runs, add a channel under Automation channels on the Slack page. Then, in a template on the Automations page, choose the action Post a message and pick the channel. The post names the automation, its trigger, the link, and the actions that ran. See [Automations](https://flared.page/docs/automations).

## Turn posts off

The Slack page has three switches: Link alerts, Weekly summary, and Automation posts. Each switch turns off that kind of post for the whole workspace. Posts that are due while a switch is off are skipped. The rules stay, and they post again when you turn the switch on.

## Messages

- Each link alert shows the short link, and the title if the link has one. A Link created alert also shows the destination. A Link changed alert shows each changed field, with the old and the new value.
- An alert in a message of its own has an Open in Flared link to the link’s page.
- Up to 10 alerts for one channel at the same time come in one message.
- Flared turns off Slack link previews in its messages. A preview would open the short link, and Flared would count it as a click.

## Retries

Flared retries a failed post the same way it retries a webhook: up to 10 attempts over 72 hours. The Slack page shows the recent posts of each rule. Flared keeps the result of each post for 30 days.

## Connection problems

- When someone removes the Flared app from Slack, or its access stops working, the Slack page shows Reconnect. Flared turns off the rules until you reconnect, and then turns them on again.
- When a channel is archived or deleted, Flared turns off the rules for that channel. The Slack page shows the reason.

## Limits

- Plus and Founding Lifetime include 20 Slack rules per workspace: link alert rules, weekly summaries, and automation channels together. Slack rules do not count against the 5 webhook endpoints. Free does not include Slack. See [pricing](https://flared.page/pricing).
- When Plus ends, Flared stops posting. The owner can still disconnect Slack.
- Slack is set up in the dashboard only. The API and the MCP server do not change Slack settings.
- A self-hosted installation does not include Slack.

## Disconnect

Disconnect removes the connection and every Slack rule of the workspace. A template with Post a message to Slack still runs its other actions, and the link’s page shows that the place to post was removed. Flared deletes its Slack token. When no other Flared workspace uses the same Slack workspace, Flared also asks Slack to revoke the token. Deleting the Flared workspace does the same.
